Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain

The Fondation Cartier features a glass facade that reflects the sky and the trees of the surrounding garden, often making the building itself seem to vanish. Jean Nouvel designed this structure in nineteen ninety-four to act as a porous membrane between the street and the park behind it. Before the glass went up, the site held the American Center, where writers like Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin gathered. Now, the glass walls protect a space dedicated entirely to contemporary art exhibitions.
