The Fondation Dubuffet is hidden at the end of a quiet courtyard behind a nondescript door on the rue de Sèvres. Jean Dubuffet purchased this eighteenth-century private mansion in the early nineteen sixties, originally intending it to house his extensive collection of Art Brut. He later established his own foundation here in nineteen seventy-four, becoming one of the rare artists to create an institution to manage his own legacy while still alive.
