Bourdelle Museum

The Bourdelle Museum occupies the very workshops where the sculptor Antoine Bourdelle lived and created for over forty years. When he first arrived at this address in the Impasse du Maine in eighteen eighty-five, it was a modest collection of artists studios tucked away in a quiet corner of the bohemian Montparnasse district. As his reputation grew, Bourdelle gradually expanded his footprint by renting out the neighboring workshops, eventually transforming the entire complex into an intimate labyrinth of creative spaces. Today, the museum preserves these rooms much as he left them, offering a rare look at the high ceilings and north-facing windows designed to capture the steady, indirect light essential for his work.
