Musée Hébert

You are approaching the Petit Montmorency, a private mansion built in seventeen forty-three that served as the home and studio of the nineteenth-century academic painter Ernest Hébert. Though the building is currently closed to the public, its history remains tied to the life of an artist who held significant influence in his time, twice serving as the director of the French Academy in Rome. The mansion was bequeathed to the French state in nineteen seventy-eight by Hébert's heir, intended to preserve the intimate, authentic atmosphere of the painter's life and work.
