Hôtel Matignon Garden

park garden

The garden you are approaching is the largest private green space in all of Paris, spanning three hectares behind the official residence of the French Prime Minister. This expansive park was originally laid out in the eighteenth century by Claude Desgot, who was the great-nephew and collaborator of the legendary royal landscape architect André Le Nôtre. Because it is a secure government site, this vast landscape remains closed to the public for most of the year, existing as a quiet, protected sanctuary tucked away within the bustling city.
