The bridge you are approaching stands as a massive steel arch, though its appearance suggests a much lighter, more ornamental structure. Engineers designed this single, low-profile span specifically to preserve the open sightlines between the Champs Elysees and the golden dome of Les Invalides. To achieve this, the entire metal framework was prefabricated off-site in pieces, then transported and hoisted into position by a giant crane to bridge the Seine without cluttering the river view.
