Rue des Degrés

Rue des Degrés is the shortest street in Paris. It measures just under six meters in length and consists entirely of a staircase leading from Rue de Cléry up to Rue Beauregard. While most Parisian streets are paved for carriages or pedestrians to traverse a neighborhood, this one serves only to bridge a steep change in elevation. A wooden sign marks the way, and its entire history is contained within these fourteen stone steps that have connected the two streets since at least seventeen thirty-four.
