The Indian Coffee House on Hanuman Road sits inside a circular, concrete tower that looks like a relic of a different era. Built in the late nineteen fifties, the structure features a spiraling ramp that connects its floors, designed by architect J.K. Chowdhury. It served as a vital hub for political journalists, activists, and students who gathered here to argue over tea and dosas. When the government tried to close the branch in the late eighties, the staff successfully fought to keep it open.
