St. Thomas Church in Gole Market is defined by its deep red brick exterior and a tall, slender bell tower that rises above the surrounding neighborhood. Built in nineteen thirty-two, it served the spiritual needs of the British government employees residing in the nearby residential quarters of New Delhi. Reverend John Augustus Wood designed the structure in a clean, minimalist style, choosing brickwork that stands in sharp contrast to the grey stone of the nearby government buildings and the bustling market stalls.
