Shri Kadu Malleshwara

religious

The temple of Shri Kadu Malleshwara features a massive stone Nandi bull seated under an open pavilion, facing the inner sanctum. This seventeenth-century structure takes its name from the dense forest that once covered the Malleshwaram area. Legend holds that the Maratha king Venkoji Raje Bhonsle discovered a self-manifested lingam hidden within the thicket and commissioned this temple to house it. The rough, weathered stone of the main shrine remains a stark contrast to the surrounding urban growth of Bengaluru.
