EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum sits inside the CHQ building, a low, long stone structure featuring massive barrel-vaulted ceilings. Built in eighteen twenty to store tobacco and wine, its vaults once echoed with the trade of the British Empire. Today, the space tells the stories of the ten million people who left Ireland. One visitor found his great-grandfather on a digital display, only to realize he had been a stowaway on a ship bound for New York in the eighteen eighties.
