Moore Street

Moore Street is defined by the permanent collection of colorful stalls and the persistent, rhythmic calls of traders selling fruit, vegetables, and flowers. It is the last working street market in Dublin. In the final days of the nineteen sixteen Easter Rising, the leaders of the Irish rebels retreated through the terraced houses here after abandoning the burning General Post Office. They surrendered at number sixteen, and that house remains a site of national commemoration amidst the daily commerce of the market.
