Donikian Leather Concept Store

other

The Donikian Leather storefront sits under a faded, hand-painted sign that announces a craft spanning three generations. Inside, the shelves hold bags and jackets cut from thick, heavy hides that smell of tanning oil and deep earth. Vahan Donikian started this business in the nineteen fifties, hauling raw leather through the narrow streets of Bourj Hammoud. He made his reputation by refusing to use synthetic linings, stitching every seam by hand until his thumbs were permanently stained with dark, waxy dye.
