The Mya Zedi Pagoda features four stone pillars inscribed with the same text in four different languages: Pali, Pyu, Mon, and Old Burmese. King Kyansittha ordered the construction in the early twelfth century to celebrate his son, Prince Rajakumar, who dedicated a gold Buddha image to his father. The inscriptions record the history of this royal family and provide historians with the key to deciphering the long-lost Pyu language. The golden pagoda remains a focal point for researchers and locals alike.
