The Shechen Monastery in Kathmandu is marked by the vibrant, hand-painted murals covering the exterior walls of its main prayer hall. This complex serves as the primary seat of the Shechen tradition of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet. It was established in nineteen eighty by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, a highly respected master who fled his homeland to preserve his lineage's teachings. He built this site to house hundreds of monks, ensuring the survival of ancient rituals and scriptures in a new home.
