Metal Craft Village, Chakrabahil Nabaa

The Metal Craft Village at Chakrabahil Nabaa consists of narrow, interconnected courtyards where the ringing of hammers hitting copper and bronze has echoed for centuries. These workshops belong to the Shakya clan, traditionally responsible for casting the ornate statues found in Kathmandu Valley temples. In nineteen eighty-four, a master craftsman named Siddhi Raj Shakya risked his savings to transform these private family spaces into a structured craft center, ensuring the intricate lost-wax casting technique survived when younger generations began leaving the trade for office jobs.
