Architects modeled the space after the sutra repositories found in ancient Buddhist monasteries. When construction workers broke ground, they unearthed stone fragments from the Tang and Song dynasties, which now sit encased in glass within the store. It operates as a bookstore, gallery, and café, built to provide a modern sanctuary for culture in the middle of a bustling commercial district.
