Gudashengci Temple

viewpoint

The Gudashengci Temple features a striking, multi-story pagoda that rises above the surrounding neighborhood, its traditional eaves and red-painted woodwork standing in contrast to the modern steel and glass nearby. Built during the Tang Dynasty, the temple originally served as a place for Buddhist scholarship and meditation. A local legend claims that a famous monk once hid a collection of sacred sutras within the temple walls to protect them from conflict, leaving them untouched for centuries until they were rediscovered during later renovations.
