Dajing Lane

other

Dajing Lane is marked by the remains of an ancient circular well tucked into a quiet corner of Hangzhou. Built during the Southern Song dynasty, this well provided the primary water source for residents for centuries. Its stone walls show deep grooves carved by the constant friction of ropes hauling buckets upward. Legend says a golden dragon once lived in the deep water, protecting the city from drought. Today, it remains as a stubborn reminder of the daily labor that sustained this neighborhood.
