Yezhong Detang features a wide, traditional wooden gate topped by an elaborate dark-tiled roof that distinguishes it from the surrounding concrete structures in Shangcheng District. Built during the late Qing dynasty, this residence served as the family home for wealthy merchants trading in silk and tea. When the local government renovated the property, they recovered original architectural details that reveal how elite households managed private business and public social life under one roof. The heavy timber frame still carries the weight of those centuries.
