Wushan Tianfeng

landmark

Wushan is a mountain ridge in the heart of Hangzhou, topped by the nine story Tianfeng Pagoda. This structure sits on a foundation of solid rock, anchoring the city skyline since the Southern Song Dynasty. Centuries ago, scholars climbed this slope to watch the moon rise over the West Lake. A prominent official named Su Shi composed poems here while serving as the local governor, forever linking the pagoda to the quiet tradition of Hangzhou literary life that still defines the site today.
