Mercado Beira-Rio

The Mercado Beira-Rio sits right on the Gaia waterfront, distinguished by its long, low silhouette and the row of arched window frames that stretch across the facade. Before it became a modern food hall, it served as a traditional produce market for nearly a century. When the city pushed to modernize the riverfront, the building shifted from a place where locals bought sacks of potatoes and fresh fish into an open-plan hall filled with wine bars, oyster stands, and artisanal cheese shops.
