The Miradouro WOW occupies a wide, paved terrace that frames the northern bank of the Douro River. Its centerpiece is a massive, reclining iron figure titled The Guardian, created by artist Bordalo Segundo. Built from scrap metal, cables, and discarded industrial parts, the sculpture depicts a seated monkey watching over the city below. The site functions as an open-air platform connecting the historic port wine cellars to the contemporary museum district. It stands as a sharp contrast to the surrounding centuries-old granite walls.
