Ebury Square

Ebury Square stands on what was once the heart of the ancient manor of Ebury, a site mentioned in the Domesday Book of the eleventh century. Centuries before the elegant townhouses arrived, this land was a four hundred and thirty acre farm that belonged to the English Crown, even serving as a quiet patch of land leased by Queen Elizabeth the First for just twenty-one pounds a year. The area remained largely rural until the late seventeenth century, when the powerful Grosvenor family acquired the estate, eventually transforming these former marshlands and open fields into the refined residential quarter you see today.
