Plaque: African National Congress

The four-story townhouse at twenty-eight Penton Street served as the London headquarters of the African National Congress between nineteen seventy-eight and nineteen ninety-four. During those years, this building functioned as the nerve center for the international movement to dismantle the South African apartheid regime. Leaders such as Oliver Tambo and Thabo Mbeki worked within these walls to coordinate global advocacy, lobby for sanctions, and manage communications for the liberation struggle while in exile.
