The Postal Museum

The Postal Museum sits right beside the Mount Pleasant Sorting Office, which was once the largest mail processing center in the world. This location is significant because it serves as the gateway to the Mail Rail, a driverless underground railway that operated for seventy-six years. Starting in 1927, these miniature electric trains shuttled millions of letters and parcels through six and a half miles of tunnels, operating twenty-two hours a day to bypass the relentless congestion of London's surface streets.
