St. Paul's Cathedral

St. Paul's Cathedral stands on the highest point in the City of London, a site that has been dedicated to religious worship for over one thousand four hundred years. The current structure you see is the fourth iteration to occupy this hill, following a series of buildings destroyed by fires, Viking raids, and the ravages of time. The version before this one, known as Old St. Paul's, was a massive medieval Gothic cathedral that once held the tallest spire in Europe until it was struck by lightning and burned to the ground in the sixteenth century.
