Bevis Marks Synagogue stands as the oldest continuously operating house of Jewish worship in the United Kingdom. Completed in seventeen hundred and one, it was the first building in England constructed specifically to serve as a synagogue following the readmission of Jews to the country in sixteen hundred and fifty-six. You will find it tucked away in a quiet courtyard that remains a deliberate refuge from the busy streets of the City of London.
