The George Inn stands on Borough High Street as the last remaining galleried coaching inn in London. Its signature feature is a two-tier wooden gallery that overlooks the central courtyard, a design that once allowed travelers to watch performances and activity from the safety and comfort of their balconies. While this layout was once common across the city to accommodate stagecoaches and their passengers, the George is the only one to survive into the modern era.
