The Old Vic Tunnels

The Old Vic Tunnels were discovered by total accident. In 2009, while attending a nearby graffiti art exhibition, the theatre director Hamish Jenkinson needed to find a restroom and ended up kicking down a door that led into a forgotten, subterranean labyrinth beneath Waterloo station. He found thirty thousand square feet of long-abandoned railway vaults that had sat dark and unused for two decades. Recognizing the potential of the damp, cavernous space, he partnered with the Old Vic theatre to transform this urban void into a high-profile, underground arts venue.
