Leadenhall Market

Leadenhall Market stands directly over the center of the Roman city of Londinium. If you were standing here nearly two thousand years ago, you would be in the middle of a massive basilica and forum complex. This Roman center was the largest building of its kind north of the Alps, spanning an area even greater than Trafalgar Square today. While most of it lies buried deep underground, you can find remnants of the original Roman foundations hidden in the basements of some of the shops and restaurants surrounding you.
