First International Syndicalist Congress

The First International Syndicalist Congress gathered here at the Holborn Town Hall in the autumn of nineteen thirteen. This meeting brought together radical labor organizations from twelve countries, all seeking to build a global alliance that bypassed traditional political parties. Delegates arrived from as far away as Argentina and Cuba, hoping to coordinate revolutionary industrial action across borders. While they gathered in this London building to forge a unified path, the discussions were defined by intense disagreements over strategy. Despite the heated debates, the attendees succeeded in establishing the International Syndicalist Information Bureau. This created a lasting network for radical unions, providing a vital channel for solidarity that functioned until the outbreak of the First World War just one year later.
