Italian Gardens

park garden

The Italian Gardens in Kensington Gardens were a romantic gesture from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria, conceived as a tribute to their holidays at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Completed in eighteen sixty, this formal water garden features four large basins and a central fountain crafted from Carrara marble and Portland stone. The site serves as a physical love letter, intended to bring the architectural style of their private retreat to the heart of London.
