Queen's Tower

The Queen's Tower stands as a solitary, two hundred eighty-seven foot survivor in the middle of the Imperial College campus. It was originally the central feature of the massive Imperial Institute, a building constructed to honor Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in eighteen eighty-seven. While the rest of that sprawling neo-Renaissance complex was demolished in the nineteen fifties and sixties to make room for modern academic buildings, this tower remained behind as a permanent anchor for the site.
