Cornwall Terrace

Cornwall Terrace stands as the inaugural completed project within the grand Regency-era plan to transform Marylebone Park into the royal pleasure grounds now known as Regent's Park. Constructed between eighteen twenty-one and eighteen twenty-three, it was designed by a young architect named Decimus Burton, who worked under the watchful eye of the era's most famous visionary, John Nash. Its name honors the future King George the Fourth, who held the title of Duke of Cornwall before his ascension to the throne. The terrace was built to secure the financial future of the wider park development by attracting elite residents who would pay substantial ground rents for their homes.
