Lord's Cricket Ground

Lord's Cricket Ground is known as the home of cricket, a title earned through over two centuries of stewardship by the Marylebone Cricket Club. While the current site in Saint John's Wood has hosted matches since 1814, it is actually the third ground founded by the entrepreneur Thomas Lord. He established his first cricket venue in 1787 at what is now Dorset Square, ensuring that spectators and players had to pass through his wine shop to enter the field.
