Wigmore Hall

Wigmore Hall began its life in 1901 as Bechstein Hall. It was built by the German piano manufacturer C. Bechstein, who operated a large showroom right next door. The company designed the venue to showcase their own instruments, creating a space that would allow their pianos to sound their very best. At the time, Bechstein was the leading piano maker in Europe, and they constructed similar halls in Paris and Saint Petersburg to serve the same purpose.
