The Bullocks Wilshire building stands apart with its oxidized copper tower, which turns a brilliant green against the blue Los Angeles sky. Opened in nineteen twenty-nine as an elite department store, it catered to Hollywood stars who pulled their cars into the rear motor court to shop in private. The law school later acquired the Art Deco landmark, keeping the mahogany cabinets and marble floors. John Bullock himself insisted on the tower, claiming it served as a beacon to guide customers toward his entrance.
