Allyne Park

landmark

Allyne Park stands on land that was once the private garden of a grand Victorian mansion. The house was built for the daughter of Ephraim Willard Burr, who served as the ninth mayor of San Francisco in the mid-nineteenth century. Two sisters, Edith and Lucy Allyne, lived in that family home for their entire lives, from the eighteen eighties until the early nineteen sixties. They were known for their philanthropic support of local causes and for maintaining a sprawling estate that once covered several nearby lots.
