Bimbo's 365 Club stands as a monument to the Prohibition era, when San Francisco nightlife thrived in secret. The venue first opened its doors in 1931 on Market Street, where guests sipped gin from coffee cups and placed bets in backroom gambling dens. Its founder, an Italian immigrant named Agostino Giuntoli, earned his famous nickname when a former employer could not pronounce his name and settled for Bimbo, the Italian word for boy. The club’s original location was at 365 Market Street, a simple address that inspired its enduring name.
