Bruce Lee Mural

landmark

San Francisco is the birthplace of Bruce Lee, who was born at the local Chinese Hospital in November of nineteen forty. Because his father was a professional actor touring with an opera company, Bruce Lee spent the earliest months of his life surrounded by the theatrics of this neighborhood before his family returned to Hong Kong. This legacy is honored throughout Chinatown with several murals, including works on Grant Avenue and at the Chinese Historical Society of America. These pieces serve as a reminder that the global martial arts icon began his journey on these very streets.
