Museum of the African Diaspora

As you approach the Museum of the African Diaspora, look up at the glass facade to see a striking three-story photomosaic. This piece, titled The Girl from Ghana, is composed of more than three thousand tiny, individual photographs contributed by people from all over the world. When you stand across the street, these thousands of personal snapshots blend together to form the single, clear face of a young girl. This installation serves as a physical metaphor for the museum mission, representing how a vast, global collection of individual human stories comes together to form a single, powerful narrative of the diaspora.
