Pier 29

Pier 29 stands out along the Embarcadero for its prominent Neoclassical bulkhead building, which features monumental arches and a gabled, Spanish-tiled roof. Designed in 1915, this historic structure was originally built as a maritime warehouse and remains one of the few surviving examples of its architectural style on the city waterfront. While many of its neighbors have been demolished or significantly altered, Pier 29 retains its historic integrity, serving as a reminder of the era when this stretch of the coast was the center of San Francisco's shipping industry.
