Alta Plaza Park

Alta Plaza Park sits atop a steep hill that once served as a jagged, industrial quarry. Before it became a green landmark, the site was scarred by deep, dangerous pits, some reaching over one hundred feet in length. The land was finally cleared of its industrial past and transformed through an extensive grading project in the early eighteen-nineties, which replaced the pits with the terraced lawns and stone staircases you see today.
