Haas-Lilienthal House

The Haas-Lilienthal House stands as a survivor of the massive earthquake and fire of 1906 that leveled most of San Francisco. While the inferno consumed nearly everything in its path, the flames were finally halted just a single block away on Van Ness Avenue. This allowed the residence to remain entirely intact, preserving its original structure and ornate Queen Anne architecture for future generations. Because it was never destroyed or significantly altered, it remains the only private Victorian home in the city that operates as a museum today.
