Hibernia Bank Building (San Francisco)

The Hibernia Bank Building stands as a granite monument at the corner of Jones and McAllister Streets. When it was completed in eighteen ninety-two, locals were so captivated by its Beaux-Arts design that they dubbed it The Paragon. Shortly after it opened, a local newspaper polled twenty artists to identify the city's best building, and fourteen of them voted for this structure. The next highest-ranked building received only four votes.
