Antique Vibrator Museum

The Antique Vibrator Museum, tucked away inside a retail store on Polk Street, serves as a tangible archive of sexual history. Founder Joani Blank began the collection in 1977 by displaying a handful of vintage devices on a single shelf. She wanted her customers to understand that these tools possessed a backstory stretching back over a century, far predating the modern sexual revolution. As the store grew, patrons began donating dusty relics they discovered in estate sales or flea markets, eventually transforming a humble shelf display into a dedicated room filled with over one hundred artifacts spanning from the late nineteenth century to the 1970s.
