Clay Theatre

The Clay Theatre, standing on Fillmore Street since 1913, began its life as a modest nickelodeon known as the Regent. Built for twelve thousand dollars, the structure was originally a functional, utilitarian space designed to show short moving pictures rather than hosting live performances. Its simple design, featuring a single screen and a raked auditorium floor, reflects an era when cinema was a new, rapidly evolving novelty.
