Venice Sign

The Venice Sign hangs suspended over the intersection of Pacific and Windward avenues, a string of glowing letters spelling out the neighborhood name in bold cursive. It serves as a modern recreation of the original installation from nineteen oh five, when Abbott Kinney lit up his seaside resort to attract potential land buyers. During the nineteen sixties, the city removed the sign, but local residents organized to bring it back in two thousand seven, securing the funds to recreate those historic lights.
