Blue Angel Motel Sign and Statue

The Blue Angel rises twenty feet above the street, a fiberglass figure clutching a star against the desert sky. She once anchored a mid-century motor court on Fremont Street, welcoming travelers with her serene, illuminated presence. When the original motel buildings faced demolition, the city preserved the sculpture as a piece of roadside art. She stood in storage for years, eventually finding a new home near the Showboat site, where she watches over traffic much as she did in nineteen fifty-seven.
